How we determine Supplier Country
Supplier Country is not written directly on the Bill of Lading.
We infer it from key location signals on each shipment and pick the best match.
Location signals we use
Each shipment gives us several geographic hints. We read all of them together — not in isolation.
Signal 1
Supplier Address
Where the company is listed or operating from
Signal 2
Place of Receipt
Where the carrier first takes custody of goods
Signal 3
Port of Loading
Where cargo is loaded onto the vessel
How we use these signals
- We compare all three and look for the most consistent location pattern.
- When they align, we assign that country as the Supplier Country.
- When they don’t fully match, we prioritize the signal that best fits the full shipping route.
Result — Supplier Country = best matching location across shipment signals
Why this is useful
It turns incomplete shipping data into a clear view of where suppliers are actually located — so you can filter, compare, and analyze by country without guessing from raw BOL fields.
