Data Use Policy

The trade data you buy from ImportYeti is yours. Use it however you want, for as long as you want.

Every shipment record here comes from a bill of lading an importer filed with U.S. Customs. Federal law makes those filings publicly disclosable, and we publish them as Customs releases them. What you pay for is the work: collecting, cleaning, matching, and organizing millions of records so they are actually usable. We keep rights in that compiling and organizing, the way any publisher does. We claim nothing in the underlying records.

What we don't do is license it to you. A license is permission, and permission can be taken back; every data license you've ever signed reserves that power somewhere. Instead, we make a promise. We will never sue you, or bring any claim against you, over your use of data you bought from us, and we will never sue anyone who gets that data from you. Your lawyers will call this a covenant not to sue. It cannot be revoked, it does not end when your subscription does, and no future change to our terms can narrow it for data you already bought.

So: analyze it, reshape it, combine it with your own data, publish what you find, build it into your products, sell it to your customers. There is no permitted-use table on this page because every use is permitted.

As with any dataset, the laws that already govern your business still govern what you do with this one.

Questions

What data does this cover?

Data you buy under a paid subscription or through our API. Our Terms of Service call that Purchased Data. It does not cover the free version, and it does not cover bulk delivery of the full database or a continuous feed, which would be a separate agreement.

Can I resell it?

Yes. Sell it, give it away, or build it into what you deliver to your clients. Our promise covers them too, and their customers after them.

What happens when I cancel?

You keep the data and you can keep using it. The promise does not end when your subscription does, and it binds anyone who later acquires ImportYeti.

Are there conditions? Audits? Reporting?

None. No audit right, no reporting obligation, and no field-of-use restriction applies to the data you buy, and the promise is not conditioned on any of them.

Where is this in the Terms?

Section 5, and it is short. 5.2 is the promise. 5.4 limits us to money damages, so no court can order you to stop using the data. 5.5 says we will not read the Terms to give you less than this page describes.
